In a monumental first, outback Queensland camping park and tourist hot spot Adels Grove has this week launched an all new tour which will see guests of all ages cruising the spectacular and awe inspiring Lawn Hill Gorge, Boodjamulla National Park.

The culmination of a partnership between Adels Grove, the Department National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing and Mount Isa based solar and electrical contractor Q Energy Solutions the new tour dubbed ‘Cruise Lawn Hill Gorge’ features a one hour guided cruise along Lawn Hill Creek running through the Gorge, aboard a pontoon boat equipped with state of the art solar technology.

Looking like something from the space age from above and whisper quiet on board the new pontoon boat meets strict environmental guidelines for the National Park.

Speaking on the specifications of the tour boat, project contractor and Director of Q Energy Solutions Matt Brewster spoke of the technical and environmental marvel.

“Q Energy Solutions were entrusted with the task of devising a solution for the new Lawn Hill Gorge tour concept for the team from Adels Grove”.

“A very exciting project we were able to devise and deliver a solution that met the projects 0% emission and strict timeline requirements (this time of year being peak tourism season).”

“The pontoon boat was fitted with a 2kw extra low voltage solar array on top of the boat which powers the boats Torqeedo electric outboard motor. Capable of pushing weights of up to 4 tonne through the water at a comfortable cruising speed of 3-5 km/hr. the solar array is designed to run the motor during day time operations, with a battery reserve also fitted for extra boost or cloudy or night time operation as required.”

“The solar electric solution fitted to the boat will deliver 24 hour, 7 day a week reliability for Adels Grove and an experience that allows their visitors and guests a truly unique experience no matter what their physical capabilities.”

Adels Grove Manager mirrored Matt’s comments adding “With the start of the new Cruise Lawn Hill Gorge Tour all of our guests and visitors no matter their age or fitness level now have the option to take in the breathtaking sights of the Gorge.”

“The option of a guided boat cruise in addition to hire canoes also allows guests to comfortably take pictures and ask questions along the way” said Michelle.

The Cruise Lawn Hill Gorge Tour is now operating with further details and bookings available through the reception team at Adels Grove.
